A Wireless Tire Pressure Monitoring System

The YOKARO Wireless TPMS is a system that contains a brain/display and 4 tires sensors. The objective here is to be able to keep track of your trailer's tire pressure and being alerted before anything major happens. At least that's the idea. This concept ids very appealing with me as I have had issues in the past with slow leaks and even over heating causing tires to come apart - not cool!

The YOKARO seemed to have everything in a simple little package that was actually reasonably priced. It posted a transmitting distance of 8 meters (26 feet) which was plenty for my small Travel Trailer. Has the ability to monitor up to 5 sensors for pressure and temperature, simple to read LCD in a little case that even had solar to change the internal battery.

The Epic Fail! No this system is not designed to stop blowouts - however it is designed to warn the drive when one does occur, but it didn't! My truck/trailer setup allowed plenty of working distance between the brail and the furthermost sensors, just a tad over 19 feet.

Their Claim: The LED display shows the pressure and temperature of 4 tires at the same time. With the wireless transmission technology, It will alert immediately when the sensor detect tire temperature or pressure under abnormal condition. Note: The manual states that it will alert on "sudden release of pressure".

Well the tire blew and the display did not indicate that. After I changed the tire, I left the sensor on the blown tire placed it on the rear of the trailer (now far out of range), got back in my truck and headed down the road. It was not until almost 40 minutes later down the road - a total of an hour and 10 minutes - did the display alert that there wan an issue. To me, that's not immediately, not even close!

What I liked

  • Solid Construction
  • Easy to install
  • Easy to setup

What I did not like

  • Failed to alert on a blowout until just over an hour later!
  • The price is good, but i can't give any product a Value Rating when it fails.
