So, I was killing time at work last week and saw a BOB Yak Trailer on CL in excellent shape! I've always wanted one, but for nothing more than running errands around town and hauling my video gear up in the mountains, stuff like that - and at $360+ I just could not justify it - not 1/2 or even a 1/3 that! So I got to going back and forth with this guy and...well... let's just say that I got an incredibly smoking deal that I just could not pass up!
If you had one, what would you do with it?
Now that I had it all cleaned up, it was time to get it powder coated to match the fatty - it came out absolutely awesome!
Hi,
And greetings from rainy Finland!
Just noticed your posting about refurbishing Bob yak trailer with powder paint
Looks awesome and planned to do same to My trailer also.
How did you dissemble plastic bushings from joint or did you coated trailer with these parts on?
Many thanks If you can give me answer
All the best,
Jarno
Removed everything and got replacement bushings from BOB Gear, I think it was like $20 bucks.
OH that’s awesome–I feel ashamed, I just cheesily spray painted my yoke after all the welding, and now she’s sort of frankenstien’d black and the pale olive.
I see you have the older dropout version. I would invest in a drill, tap and some M4 screws to utilize the stay in place clips with leash. (I have a few extra from having had a shop if you want a pair) and then you can do away with the cotter pins.
I modded a 26″ yoke for my fat bike, and I needed to cut into my dropout a bit–it would have catastrophically hit the RD coming off a curb. I lost the leash retention screw, so I did the tap trick to add it back.
